GUNNING FOR GOLD: Francesca Rivett won a bronze medal at Crawley – and is aiming to improve next year.

Shotokan Tokon Karate Club ace Francesca puts in a Rivett-ing performance

Talented teenager Francesca Rivett bagged a brilliant bronze at the Japan Karate Association national championships.

The 14-year-old, who is a student at Shotokan Tokon Karate Club in Holbeach, narrowly missed out on the silver medal at the K2 arena, Crawley.

Competing in the 13 to 15 age group brown to black belt for kata, Rivett collected a bronze medal for her outstanding performance of Bassi Dia kata, falling just a couple of points shy of second position.

Buoyed by her performance, Rivett has already set her sights on improving to either the silver or gold medal next year – and is already training to achieve her goal.

Shotokan Tokon Karate Club hold classes at University Academy Holbeach and at the Peele Leisure Centre in Long Sutton.
