Insp Jim Tyner ensuring a smooth handover to Sgt Jo Reeves.

Sergeant Jo ready to assume Jim Tyner’s role as South Holland community policing inspector

Policing is all that Jo Reeves has ever wanted to do so it will be another proud moment in her blossoming career when she becomes South Holland community inspector on Monday.

It’s been a swift rise for the 30-year-old who started as a police officer in 2006 and was promoted to sergeant at Spalding last August.
She takes over the district role for an initial three-month period, covering Jim Tyner who has been appointed temporary chief inspector for East Lindsey, based in Skegness.

Sgt Reeves said: “I’ll be looking to maintaining what’s already ongoing. I love neighbourhood policing and I’m looking forward to coming back to that.”
She began her career as a PCSO in Skegness, progressing to roles with Cambridgeshire Police in CID and the rural community action team. Her neighbourhood policing experience was gained in Peterborough city centre.

Sgt Reeves appealed for people to keep getting in touch with any issues.
“If people have concerns that we are not dealing with they should raise these at a policing panel meeting, via a police officer or a PCSO or social media,” she said.

Meanwhile, Insp Tyner admitted to having “mixed emotions” about leaving the Spalding job, even though it is intended to be temporary.
He said: “I’ll miss the staff at Spalding. Like any job, I’m nervous about starting a new role, but I’m reassured that Jo is taking over here.”

Sgt Reeves has been used to using Facebook to engage with the public, but Twitter is new to her. She will take over the @SpaldingInsp account which has more than 1,600 followers and brought so much interaction and acclaim for Insp Tyner.

He asked the public to respect that Sgt Reeves would be in a new role and to be assured that policing activity would remain high, even if it is not being written about.
