Scores more homes on the way for area

Planning for hundreds more homes in South Holland has been approved by the South Holland District Council planning committee.

At the meeting on November 8, Coun Eddy Poll spoke on behalf of Moulton Chapel Parish Council in opposition of an application for 58 homes in the village.

To allow access to the site, a commercial garage would need to be demolished.

Coun Poll said: “Moulton Chapel ranks high on the list of sustainable villages because of the number of facilities we have to offer the public.
“This application perversely requires the removal of one of those services.”

The council was told the garage owner is happy to move.

Coun Harry Drury said: “I’m sorry to see the loss of the garage but sites like this garage, how much longer has this got left anyway?
“If it’s true he is looking to move on then will this just become a redundant site?”

Permission was unanimously granted.

Holbeach’s growth continues with approval for 77 dwellings at Wignals Gate granted.

Coun Andrew Tennant said, despite the negative aspects: “I find it hard to sit here and argue the effect when you’ve approved 1,000 houses just down the road. It’s a natural addition to Holbeach.”

Two phases of residential development, totalling 330 dwellings, was also approved at Manor Farm, Holbeach.

The application was made by Ashwood Homes for the land on which the company’s head office currently stands.

Ashley King, director of Ashwood Homes, said: “We are delighted to have received approval for the first stage of this development.”
