Red flags fail to knock Wilson off title charge

Tom Fisher rode to a win and two second places on the Kime Racing Yamaha in round five of the No Limits Pirelli Super Series 600 on Anglesey on Sunday.

The result edged him closer to the top three in the rider standings.
Fisher rode well during qualifying to earn a front row start to Saturday’s opening race and anticipated the lights well to give chase to Barry Burrell who got the jump on him at the start. Fisher remained clear in second place and picked up 20 championship points.
The weather improved on Sunday for race two and Fisher started from a front row grid position and was second on the first lap. He made it past Tommy Fielding on lap two and, as the race unfolded, Fielding and Burrell entered into a battle for second position, which allowed Fisher to extend his lead. On lap eight of 12 the race came to an early end when the red flag came out because of a crash further down field and Fisher was awarded the win.
The final race saw Fisher start from the middle of the front row but he was barged back to fourth in the battle for the lead at the first corner.
The race was red flagged on lap four for a faller at Target and a full restart ensued to run over eight laps. Starting from the head of the second row, Fisher got a better start and was third on the opening lap. He passed Oliver Barr and focussed on chasing Burrell. On lap five he shaved a 10th of a second off Burrell, posting the fastest lap of the race with 1m 09.407s – 80.39mph, when again the red flag halted the race for a faller at Church. This time the result was called and Fisher was awarded second place.
The points accrued sees Fisher remain fourth in the rider standings but he has made up ground to within 14 points of third-placed Fielding.
The next round is at Brands Hatch over the weekend of July 29/30.
