Record month for responders

First responders charity LIVES had is busiest ever month in November, attending almost 2,000 medical emergencies across Lincolnshire.

Last month, LIVES attended 1,972 medical emergencies across the county, 62 of which were in South Holland, a spokesman said.

LIVES responded to 384 incidents in South Holland alone between January and October this year.
The charity has volunteers who are responding to medical emergencies in their own community.

LIVES spokesman Amy Rose said there were 17 responders in the South Holland area.

She added: “They are able to get there fast to deliver that immediate care before handing over to the ambulance service.”

Nikki Silver, CEO of LIVES, said of its members:  “We’re incredibly proud and grateful to our fantastic volunteers who give up so much time to be there for their neighbours in time of greatest need whatever time of day and the weather.

“We’re on target for a record year and that is amazing that we can help so many people in Lincolnshire, but equally it puts a greater pressure on our charity to raise more funds to keep our responders on the road.”

Each year LIVES has to raise at least £1m from public donations to keep its responders available.

The charity is on track for helping 21,000 people in Lincolnshire this year. This equates to around £50 per person helped.

To assist, LIVES is asking people wishing to support the service to donate via www.lives.org.uk
LIVES provides a skilled response to medical emergencies throughout Lincolnshire. When 999 is dialled, not only is
an ambulance mobilised, but at the same time, the LIVES volunteers on call in the area are also notified.
