A Quadring man has been jailed for more than five years after taking part in a terrifying gunpoint hold-up at a village post office.
Luke French and Jake Webster carried out the attack on the Post Office at Colsterworth, near Grantham, but were foiled when the postmistress pressed the panic alarm button.
Gordon Aspden, prosecuting at Lincoln Crown Court, said both men wore balaclavas as they entered. One of the robbers pointed a replica handgun at the postmaster while the other jumped on the counter, but they fled empty-handed when the alarm was activated.
The two raiders left the scene in a getaway car which was later found burned out. The gun used in the raid was found discarded nearby.
Tests carried out on the weapon revealed the presence of DNA from both French and Webster and both were later arrested.
French (25), of Main Road, and Webster (21), of George Street, Grantham, both admitted conspiracy to commit robbery as a result of the incident on the morning of August 31, 2012. They were each jailed for five years and four months.
Recorder Ciaran Rankin described the raid as an organised and planned robbery.
