Pyramid A win 5-1 to take snooker Division Two crown

A 5-1 win saw Pyramid A crowned Spalding and District Snooker League Division Two champions on Thursday night.

They beat Consti B to give them the title, two points ahead of club mates Pyramid D, who finished runners-up after going down 5-1 to Gosberton A.
Victor Rouse (R7), Mick Twell (R7), Norman Vaughan (O21) and John Twell (O7) got the wins for Pyramid A, while John Keeton (O7) got the single point for Consti, who ended up in fourth place.
Gosberton A’s win pushed Pyramid D into second place.
Wins from Jamie Mumby (O14), Carl Wand (O7), Andy Adair (R7) and Alan Jackson (scr) sealed the deal for Gosberton, who have saved themselves from relegation with that win.
Holbeach B finished third, thanks to a 5-1 win over Whittlesey C.
Donington B are relegated after finishing bottom of the league. A 4-2 win over Holbeach A wasn’t enough to move them out of the drop zone.
The highlight of that match was a 40 break from Stuart Atkin (O42) during his victory over Paul Stewart (scr).
Pyramid B will also be going down a division after finishing second-from-bottom.
They lost 4-2 to Services D, to seal their fate.
Winners for Services were Joel Shears (R7), Kevin Robbs (R7) and Richard Neal (R21).
Donington A finished their season with a 5-1 win over Gosberton D, who ended up third-from-bottom.
Nigel Brasier (O28), Jean Thompson (R28), Tony Scully (O42) and John George (O7) got the points for Donington.
Consti F beat Services B 4-2, thanks to wins from Robert Adams (O7), Martyn Stanley (R14) and Bryan Turnell (R14).
Division One champions Donington C ended their season on a high with a 4-2 win over Bourne SC A.
Neil Reynolds (O63), Mat Turner (O14) and Neil Favell (O7) were Donington’s winners, while Ian Clare (scr) and Oliver Player (O35) got the points for Bourne.
Services A finished runners-up, despite losing 4-2 to Pyramid C, and Consti E came third – they too suffered a 4-2 but at the hands of Holbeach D.
Holbeach’s winners were Denis Hix (R7), Paul Daw (O28) and Ian Woodberry (O7).
Consti G took on club mates Consti H, with the H team coming out on top.
They won 5-1, but Consti G held on to take the fourth spot in the division.
Down at the other end of the table, Holbeach E won 4-2 against Boundary A, but they both look likely to be relegated, finishing bottom and second-from-bottom respectively.
Despite having spent most the season at the bottom of the table, Sutton Bridge managed to drag themselves out of the drop zone.
They beat Bourne SC B 5-1 to finish their campaign, fifth-from-bottom.
Winners were Josh Balding (R7), Shane Balding (O49), Paul Gurney (O7) and Wayne Howard (O14).
Services C got the better of Holbeach C, who have narrowly avoided relegation, finishing fourth-from-bottom
Services won 4-2 thanks to Kev Fitter (O14), Jordan Philpott (R7) and Nigel Cherry (O7).
Holbeach F, who were confirmed Division Three champions last week, were without a game this week.
Second-placed Consti I confirmed their runners-up trophy with a 4-2 win over Whittlesey A.
John Bellerby (scr), David Twelves (O7) and Dave Brown (O35) were Consti’s winners.
Pyramid E pipped Consti A and J to third place with a 4-2 win over Donington D.
Stephen Thompson (R14) got Pyramid off to a good start with a win over Geoff Harris (R28), before Paul Whyte (R14) beat Neil Mclean (R7) to level the score.
Jeremy Radford (R7) beat Dan Sawdy (scr) 51-11 to give Pyramid the lead again, before Geoff Harris (R28) got the win to make it all square.
The decider saw Alan Stanley (R14) take on John Clapton (R7) with Clapton winning 65-40.
Consti J played club mates Consti A, with the A team coming out on top 5-1 and taking fourth place.
Paul Kent (R21), Martyn Johnson (R14), Wayne Wilding (O21), who knocked in a 38 break, and Nigel Steadman (R7) were the A team’s winners.
Les Andrew (scr) got the lone point for Consti J.
Consti D ended up bottom of the division, and finished their season with a 4-2 defeat by Gosberton C.
Stuart Henderson (scr), Mark Payne (O14) and Stuart Tamplin (R7) got the points for Gosberton.
Gosberton B finished their campaign on a high with a 6-0 win over Consti C.
Richard Crampton (R28), Merv Pattinson (R21), Nigel Goodwin (R21), Warren Driver (R14) and Simon Slinger (R7).
