Pride of Spalding and South Holland Awards – Theatre group is a class act

Spalding-based youth theatre group, Act II are the latest nominees for a Pride of Spalding and South Holland Award.

Act II was founded in 2004 by director Karl Gernert and is co-run by Charlotte Graper.

The person who nominated Act II said: “Act II Theatre Company deserve this award because they work very hard to provide some amazing opportunities for the young people in our community.

“They help children to grow in confidence, encouraging them and helping them to achieve in all areas of performing.

“They also provide opportunities for the children to perform in different venues like Ayscoughfee Hall, South Holland Centre and Long Sutton church, which is a good experience for the children.

“My boys have been going for seven-and-a-half years and they enjoy it so much that they attend three classes a week as well as extra singing and acting classes.

“As well as gaining skills in performing, it is a very good way to develop social skills.

“Charlotte, Karl, Alice and the rest of the team are very good role models to all of the children.

“I am always amazed at how much they get out of the children in such a short time during the many workshops they do in the school holidays.

“I wanted to nominate them because I would like to give them the recognition they deserve for all the hard work they do.”
