Positives to take for Stafford and team after Supersport opener

Saracen’s Head rider Ben Stafford and the Silicone engineering team learnt plenty during round one of the Dickies British Supersport at Silverstone.

Practice and qualifying went well in the changing conditions. Stafford was at the top of the leaderboard until the final few laps on a drying track, dropping to sixth place and a great position for race one.
Changing track conditions played in to Stafford’s hands as some of the top riders went missing in the early stages of the race with over enthusiastic moves in the slippery conditions.
However, twice the race was stopped, leaving Stafford frustrated in sixth.

Sunday’s conditions were better, with Stafford starting from the second row. Pushed back to tenth place, he picked his way through the pack before a mechanical failure on lap four ended his race.

A spokesman said: “Despite the disappointment, the positives we take from this are good. We know we have to find some power from somewhere but we are able to run in the front group with some very experienced riders.
“Again we would like to say a huge thanks to all of the sponsors and the Silicone team for making this possible.”
