Posh spice up their season with draw against leaders

Resurgent Posh Old Boys picked up an impressive 2-2 draw against runaway Division One leaders Polishborough on another exciting night of action in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side-league.

Division Two champions Posh fielded a make-shift team, but still managed to pull off their second big upset of the season at Surfleet’s Glen Park on Monday night.

Polishborough, themselves a litter under-strength fell victim to the quick and organised Posh play and were left disappointed and frustrated by their unusual lack of conviction in front of goal.

Still, they remain unbeaten and five points clear at the top.

Ryan Brothwell was given the nod as man-of-the-match (MOTM) in this game.

The next clash saw Notinmymum’s Forest maintain their decent form with a 4-0 drubbing of Old Boy Coaches.

The adaptive forward play of the Forest lads proved too much for Coaches to cope with. Simon Howard, Forest’s captain and keeper extraordinaire, was MOTM in this one.

Pinchbeck United were then left with ear-to-ear grins after pulling off a very impressive 3-0 win over Pro Ballers. The Pinchbeck lads bossed the game from start to finish and were in no way overwrought by a Pro Ballers side who still sit in the top half of the table.

Jonny Butler picked up his second MOTM of the season for the victors.

You’ve Got No Fans and Brennans Sports then played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in a no-holds-barred and end-to-end encounter to wrap up the action on Division One.
Both sides will see this as a point gained as the momentum of the game continually shifted. Guy Mantle was picked as MOTM.

The only other update from Division One is that Univeg Team and Mirror Signal Malouda were both drawn to play against ‘points matches’ at 7pm. Common sense prevailed and the pair squared off in friendly, which sees both sides credited with a 5-0 win.

Meanwhile, Division Two got under way with leaders Simple FC putting 11 past Balotellitubbies in a comfortable 11-1 victory. Leigh Boekestyn bagged four goals and the MOTM award.

The result was never in doubt as Simple showed the greater class from the off.

Struggling Balotellitubbies did at least score from their one chance on goal.

Goaldiggers had Tyler Wright to thank for their 3-0 win over Sarah’s Boys. He was in immense form as his side strolled past a potential banana skin, bossing every aspect of the game in a physical and fraught affair.

The next contest saw the whipping boys of division two, Hardly Athletic, suffer another heavy defeat.

This time Tekkerslovakia were the beneficiaries as they strolled to an 8-0 shutout.

Cameron McClean was judged to have made the most difference and took the MOTM accolade.

Next up, Mail Carters lost 3-0 to The TBME in a disappointing showing.

The TBME were in control and really stepped it up after last week’s defeat, looking sharp, more focused and well organised. Jake Farrell was again a cut above with his fourth MOTM.

Le Saux Solid Crew against BK’s Athletic was supposed to be a tight affair on paper – but the reality was far from that, as Le Saux eased to a massive 5-0 victory to drop BK’s from second to third.

England trialist Harry Ledger was on fine form, but team-mate Jordan Graham took the MOTM plaudits as Le Saux pulled off a delightful result.

The most enthralling game of the evening saw Evolution ease past Dynamo Kiev 2-0 in a 9pm kick-off.

The game was fiery, tight and engrossing as both sides pushed hard for the points.

A breakthrough in the second half from Evolution was perhaps a fair reflection on the slight dominance they showed at that time, but the second goal was slightly harsh on Dynamo who worked tirelessly until the final whistle.

Evolution frontman Tomas Urbanavicius was MOTM in the game after he controlled the final third for the Evolution lads.
