Pleased Panton ‘over the moon’ with five-star Moulton Harrox

Delighted Dave Panton couldn’t hide his pride as Moulton Harrox continued their sensational start to the season with a 5-0 derby demolition on Crowland Town on Tuesday night.

Harrox now boast five wins from as many ChromaSport Peterborough Premier Division matches and have established themselves as a real force to be reckoned with.

Striker Adam Abell, a recent signing from rivals Pinchbeck United, marked his home debut with two cracking strikes, while fellow frontman Ian Bradbury added two fine goals of his own.

Sub Ryan Wheeler completed the scoring to leave Moulton second in the table, just behind Peterborough Sports Reserves on goal difference.

Panton said: “It was a really good display. We played good football throughout the team and the strikers are performing well.

“I’m over the moon with our start, winning all five fixtures in August including three hard local derbies.

“The lads have a mini-break now until week on Saturday and I will hope we return as hungry for success as we have started.”

Harrox: Kenealy, Groves, Cardell, Coddington, Patterson, Placis, King, Townsend, Allen (Sandall), Bradbury (Wheeler). Not used: Ball.

  • Spalding United Reserves stormed to a 3-1 derby win at Long Sutton Athletic in Division One to record their fourth win of the campaign.

The Tulips grabbed the first goal on Tuesday night when Adam Braybrook’s 20th-minute corner was turned in by a home defender.

In-form striker Jamie Cartlidge then doubled Spalding’s advantage when he delicately flicking Braybrook’s free kick over the standard keeper.

Prolific Sutton marksman Matty Cawthorn gave the Magpies hope with a close-range finish just before the break, but a comeback never really materialised.

Speedy winger Jake Farrell rounded off the scoring at London Road when he charged through the defence, controlled a through ball and coolly finished into the corner.
