Planners recommend Moulton Park be opened to the public

A bid to open Moulton Park up to the public looks set to get the green light from planners.

South Holland District Council is in the process of selling the majority of the site to the charity the John and Maureen Biggadike Foundation who are to open the space up for people to enjoy.

The authority’s planning officers have recommended change of use permission be allowed so part of the land can be created for a park for play equipment which it aims to open by the Spring.

The charity has previously said it would honour a pledge to donate some land to Moulton Parish Council for it to site play equipment on.

No objections have been submitted.

Recommending approval, the planning officer’s report states: “The resultant development would provide a recreational space for the benefits of the local community with minimal physical alterations and no development of built form.”

South Holland District Council brought Moulton Park in 2016 in a bid to open it to the public but has so far been unable to do so.

The John and Maureen Biggadike Foundation was set up a year ago following the death of the aforementioned John to help good causes in the village.
It has said it will call a public meeting to discuss what Moulton residents want from the park when it gets legal formality over its takeover of the full 22-acres of the parkland.
