Peterborough League hit by water-logged pitches

A host of games in the Peterborough and District League were called off due to water-logged pitches, as well as Moulton Harrox’s Junior Cup semi-final at Wyberton.
Only one game survived in the Premier League involving local sides as Holbeach United were beaten 5-0 at Wittering Premiair.
Holbeach United Sports faired better in Division One drawing 1-1 with Deeping United.
Long Sutton Athletic lost 6-1 at Cardea, Jamie Taylor scoring for Sutton.
In the local derby in Division Two, Crowland Town Reserves ran out 4-1 winners over Tydd Reserves.
Ayodeji Ogunade and Jordan Kirchin put Crowland into a 2-0 lead 17 minutes into the match before Tydd’s Daniel Cassidy hit back before the break.
Two goals within a minute in the second half by Harry Grigas sealed the vital points for Crowland who are still bottom of the division but now level on points with Stamford Lions and still a point behind the now third from bottom Oakham United Reserves who won 4-0 at home to Sutton Bridge United.
Also in that division third placed Whaplode Drove Rovers drew 2-2 at leaders Peterborough Rangers.
Adam Richards’ goals in the 71st and 81st minutes earned Whaplode a point.
They’re three points behind Peterborough and second placed FC Hampton with eight games remaining.
Division Four side South Lincolnshire Swifts have a cup final to look forward to.
Last week they defeated Crowland Town Reserves in the semi-final of the Spalding Inter Services Cup.
Will Smith scored the winner for Swifts in the 100th minute after Dawid Gos’ 52nd minute strike had levelled up Troy Harrison’s first half effort for Crowland.
Back in league action on Saturday they drew 2-2 at FC Hampton A, Tyriece Buffong at the double for the visitors.
There were some big scorelines in the Sunday League.
South Holland United lost 5-4 in a nine-goal thriller with Orton Wanderers, Chesney Isaac putting them ahead early in the first half, as did Ryan Murray towards the start of the second.
But four goals in the second half by Orton put them in charge before both of Sutton’s goal scorers grabbed their seconds in injury time to make for an interesting finish.
Crowland Town’s Sunday team hit seven against Peterborough International Sports, winning 7-3.
Elsewhere, Peterborough Saints, who play at Holbeach Bank, lost 8-1 at home to Thorpe Wood Rangers Sunday Claret while also in the division, West Raven beat PSV Rangers 21-0.
