Penalty shoot-out woe for Moulton Harrox in county cup after thrilling 4-4 draw

Moulton Harrox’s bid for glory in the Lincs FA Junior Cup ended in penalty shoot-out heartache on Saturday.

Harrox were level at 3-3 with hosts North Somercotes United after 90 minutes and then 4-4 after extra time, with Ben Allen, Ainsley Johnson, Marcus Parry and Joe Townsend all on target.

But the hosts won the shoot-out 4-2 and progress to the last 16.

Pinchbeck United are the only South Holland side left in the competition.

Harrox: Kenealy, Groves, Johnson, Coddington, Price, McGuire, King, Cawthorne, Townsend, Bradbury, Parry. Subs used: Oldham, Woods.

  • A Pawel Podlinski strike wasn’t enough for Crowland Town in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division on Saturday as Leverington Sports won 2-1 at Snowden Field.

In Division One, a hat-trick from Dan Lambe-Hyner fired leaders Moulton Harrox Reserves to a 6-1 PFA Challenge Cup win over Stamford Belevedere. Chris Hall and Ryan Wheeler were also among the scorers.

Sutton Bridge United are still third in Division One after a 3-1 home win over second-placed Wittering. Matt Eaton, Jack Murley and Ben Partridge were all on target.

At the other end of the table, Spalding United Reserves were beaten 5-0 at home by Oundle Town.

In Division Two, Stephen Coles, Jamie Francis and Declan Sands netted to give Pinchbeck United Reserves a 3-1 win at Parkway Eagles.

Elsewhere, Sutton Bridge Reserves were crushed 14-0 by hosts Eye United in Division Three.

Division Four leaders Holbeach Bank got back on track with a 2-1 win over Netherton United B, Calvin Bird and Gav Phillips the scorers.

In the PFA Junior Cup, goals from Danny Firth, Sam Lawrence and Joe Strickland saw Whaplode Drove beat Thorpe Wood 3-0, but Shane Miller’s strike couldn’t stop

Holbeach United A progressed in the PFA Minor Cup, beating hosts Wittering Reserves 6-2 with Dan Bergin (2), Taylor Beveridge, Rob Lewsley and Jon Clark among the scorers.
