PDFL round-up: On-song Moulton Harrox end year as clear leaders

Moulton Harrox are top of the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division tree at Christmas after beating rivals ICA Sports 3-1 on Saturday.

Goals from Louis Steadman (penalty), Ashley Coddington and sub Joe Townsend were enough for Harrox at Broad Lane, although Sam Cross’ strike did ensure the Peterborough side only trailed 2-1 at the break.

Nigel Steadman’s side, who have only lost once in 16 games in the league this season, will begin 2018 some five points clear of defending champions Peterborough Sports Reserves with a game in hand.

Moulton will begin the New Year with a home Lincs Junior Cup quarter-final clash against Appleby Frodingham (1.30pm).

Harrox: Wilding, Groves, Johnson, Patterson, Coddington, Watkin, King, Relf, L Steadman, Parry, Bradbury. Subs used: Cawthorne, McGuire, Townsend.

  • It was also a good day for Moulton Harrox Reserves in PDFL Division One.

The defending champions also finish the year at the top of their table after Declan Earth’s hat-trick fired them to a 4-1 victory at Ramsey Town.

Jack Wycherley was also on the mark for Kev Nottingham’s charges, who are four points clear of Long Sutton Athletic.

That’s after Omar Joof’s in-form Magpies made it four league wins on the spin by seeing off hosts Oundle Town 2-0. Matty Oliver and Martin Oliver netted for Sutton, who were missing a host of first team regulars.

Elsewhere in Division One, Crowland Town were handed a 6-0 reverse by hosts Oakham United Reserves.

In Division Three, Whaplode Drove are part of a four-way tie at the top of the table following their win at fellow high-fliers Premiair.

Drove picked up a fantastic 4-3 victory against their title rivals to move level on points with them, Cardea and Feeder.

In Division Four, Long Sutton Athletic Reserves were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Ramsey Town Reserves at London Road.

Ryan Brothwell and Jonathan Clark put Sutton 2-0 up, but they were pegged back.

Fellow Division Four side Tydd St Mary Reserves progressed in the PFA Minor Cup with a thrilling 4-3 victory at FC Peterborough A.

Their goals came from Ben Gibbons, Marcus Gilbertson, Paul Richardson and Matt Rose at Bretton Park.

Meanwhile, Spalding United A were 4-1 winners over Wittering Harriers Reserves in Division Five A.

Charlie Dhanji (2), Carlos Costa and Jay George bagged for the Tulips.
