SLIP UP: Holbeach Bank are still top after their loss, but the teams below are now in command.

PDFL round-up: Holbeach Bank’s title hopes take a hit after home Cardea reverse

Long-term ChromaSport PDFL Division Four leaders Holbeach Bank saw their title dream take a sizeable hit on Saturday.

Brett Schlechter’s charges were handed a 4-2 home reverse by rivals Cardea to weaken their position at the summit.

Danny Hunt and Sam Thompson netted for Bank, but they are now just a point clear of Premiair (five games in hand) and Cardea (three games in hand) having played more games than all of their title rivals.

Also in Division Four, Whaplode Drove came a cropper at Whittlesey Athletic C, going down 2-1.

Tydd St Mary Reserves fared much better, though, as they picked up a 2-0 success at Wittering Harriers Reserves.

Marcus Gilbertson and sub Maxwell Burrell grabbed the goals.

Staying in Division Four, Long Sutton Athletic Reserves suffered a 5-2 defeat at FC Peterborough Reserves despite goals from Shane Miller and Dan Newell.

Up in Division One, Sutton Bridge United missed the chance to put some pressure on runaway leaders Moulton Harrox Reserves.

They drew 2-2 with ten-man Oundle Town Reserves, with Ben Partridge’s first-half double giving Bridge a 2-1 half-time adavantage.

Martin Thope (2) scored in either half for Oundle, who had Elliot Rowe sent off.

As a result, Harrox Reserves are now nine points clear at the summit after Sutton Bridge’s game in hand failed to significantly cut their lead.

In Division Two, Crowland Town Reserves were edged out 3-2 by visitors Langtoft United Reserves.

The Snowden Field loss is their eighth of the season and leaves them in sixth place in the table.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United got their Division Five ‘A’ season under way with a 5-1 defeat at Peterborough NECI.

Tom Cherry got the consolation for the Tigers.

The division has been cut into two smaller tables following the winter break.

Holbeach had topped the standings at Christmas, but must now do it all over again.
