PDFL round-up: Crowland Town’s amazing goal spree seals vital home win

Four goals in 16 second-half minutes fired Crowland Town to a much-needed ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division win on Saturday.

Matt Barnet (72), Robbie Ellis (75 & 88) and Simkus Virginijus (also 75) all netted in a late flurry that secured a 4-2 success over Langtoft United at Snowden Field.

The win moves Crowland four points clear of the bottom three.

Also in the top tier, a Jonny Allen hat-trick inspired Holbeach United Reserves to a 4-3 victory over Deeping Rangers Reserves at Carter’s Park.

Jordan Keeble also netted for Chris Page’s charges.

In Division One, goals from Tom Elderkin and Martin Sandall gave leaders Moulton Harrox Reserves a 2-1 win at Wittering Harriers.

They are now 19 games unbeaten and 15 points clear at the summit.

However, basement boys Spalding United Reserves at home to Warboys Town. Aidan Doherty got the goal.

In Division Two, goals from Nuno Marujo and Joe Carr saw Spalding Town beaten 2-0 at home by Ketton Reserves.

Meanwhile, Holbeach Bank lost their grip on top spot in Division Four after going down 5-2 at new leaders Premiair.

Lewis Machin and Sam Thompson netted for Brett Schlechter’s side as they were bang in the game at 3-2 down at half time, but strikes from Ryan Alban, Rian Inns, Chris Ward, Liam Hatfield and Aaron Sawyer put it beyond them.

Also shipping five goals were Tydd St Mary Reserves, who slipped up 5-3 at ten-man Eunice Huntingdon in the League Shield.

Two goals from Jonny Wiggins and a Dexter Facey effort weren’t enough for the Saints, who were sunk by a Krysztof Chojack treble. Eunice had Krystian Drobisz sent off late on.

Also exiting the League Shield were Holbeach United A, who came unstuck at Peterborough NECI.

John Regan got the only goal to see the Tigers off 1-0.

Both ties were semi-final clashes, meaning the prospect of an all-South Holland final has now disappeared.
