PDFL football: Sutton Bridge back to winning ways, Harrox Reserves fire five in derby

Two goals from Sam Cooper fired Sutton Bridge United to a 3-2 victory over Warboys Town in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division on Saturday.

Joe Sutton was also on the mark for hosts Bridge at Memorial Park, with Matt Brown and Ben Duncan hitting back for Warboys.

That victory keeps Sutton Bridge seventh in the table, three points off fourth place.

Towards the bottom end of the table, Holbeach United Reserves are 14th after a 3-1 defeat at second-placed Netherton United.

Jordan Keeble netted for Phil Barnes’ Tigers, who are six points clear of the bottom two.

That match was switched from Carter’s Park – which wasn’t playable because of the rain – to Netherton’s 3G surface at The Grange.

In Division One, leaders Moulton Harrox Reserves are five points clear after a resounding 5-1 derby victory over Crowland Town.

Declan Earth starred with a brace at Broad Lane, while Tom Panton, James Thorold and sub Laurence Price also got in on the act.

Garry Jackson hit back for Crowland, who are ninth in the table.

Champions Harrox – who have five games in hand on second-placed Wittering – are looking odds-on to retain the title under the guidance of Kev Nottingham.

It was a day to forget for Long Sutton Athletic, however, as they went down 5-2 at Peterborough Polonia.

Goal machine Adrian Mizia notched twice for Polonia, who are now just four points behind the Magpies.

Also beaten were fifth-placed Tydd St Mary, who went down 2-1 at Uppingham Town.

Down in Division Two, Spalding Town picked up a 3-0 home success over Rippingale and Folkingham.

Ricky Dickinson, Ash Wilson and Aaron Eyett bagged in that one.

In Division Three, free-scoring Whaplode Drove walloped Riverside 6-0 to climb up to second in the standings.
