Patterson: Moorlands county cup clash is Moulton Harrox’s biggest game of the season

Five-time winners Moulton Harrox are hoping to keep their affinity with the Lincs FA Junior Cup going on Saturday.

Harrox welcome fellow big-hitters Lincoln Moorlands Railway to Broad Lane for what is undoubtedly the tie of the fourth round – with whoever progresses moving on to be big favourites to lift the county crown.

Joint Moulton boss Bobby Patterson reckons there will be a great deal of mutual respect between the sides, but admits that winning the competition is the club’s ultimate goal for the season.

He said: “This is a big tie between two teams who expect to win the competition. It’s the biggest game of the season for us.

“Obviously we’d have liked to avoid each other, but at least we have the home advantage.

“They’re one of the top Step Seven sides locally and we respect them – much like I’m sure they’ll arrive with a great deal of respect for us.

“What we need is a vintage Moulton performance. We know we can beat anybody at this level when we’re at our best.

“We have a real affinity with this competition, it’s special for the club. We want to go on and win it again.”

Moorlands sit third in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League, 14 points off top spot with four games in hand.

They’ve lost once all season.
