Murrell leaves Pinchbeck to go travelling

Pinchbeck United have lost the services of influential defender Ashley Murrell.
Murrell has left Knight Street to go travelling around the world and his departure will be a blow to the Peterborough League Premier Division side.
Ian Dunn’s charges have made an inconsistent start to their campaign after being much-fancied for a crack at the league crown.
Dunn said: “Ash’s departure leaves some big shoes to fill. He has a great attitude.
“We wish him the best of luck on his travels.”
Pinchbeck’s clash with Langtoft on Saturday was abandoned after 55 minutes following an injury to goalkeeper Joe Ashton.
Dunn’s side were trailing 2-1 when Ashton collided with a Langtoft forward trying to clear the ball.
His cheek smashed into the back of the forward’s head and Ashton briefly lost consciousness before slowly responding to treatment for mild concussion.
The incident had seen Ashton called into action against the run of play as Pinchbeck sought a way back into the contest.
The hosts had fallen behind when Thomas Retzlaff powered home a header from Sam Thompson’s pinpoint corner.
The same combination linked up again moments later as Thompson’s flag kick was converted by Retzlaff’s header.
Pinchbeck reduced the arrears before half-time when Tom Brooks headed home from a corner.
But, just as the home side were dominating and looking like grabbing an equaliser, play broke to the other end where Ashton’s collision with Langtoft’s Josh Hales brought a premature end to proceedings.
Pinchbeck are without a match this weekend.
Their next game is on Saturday, September 17, when they travel to Stilton for a second round match in the President’s Premier Shield.
Pinchbeck had progressed in the competition with a 6-1 victory over Leverington while Stilton received a bye into the second round.
