Moulton look to cup after missing title

Moulton Harrox have missed out on the Dor-Jan Peterborough and District Premier League title, but they have another cup semi-final to look forward to.
Declan Earth is in fine form and he netted four times for Moulton in the 7-1 win over bottom tier AFC Marlborne in Tuesday’s League Cup quarter-final.
Ashley Coddington, Louis Steadman and Ian Bradbury also scored as Moulton booked a spot in the last four.
Earth also netted a hat-trick the previous Thursday as Moulton gave themselves a chance of winning the league by beating Tydd 3-0.
Uppingham Town could have wrapped the league up by beating Warboys Town on Saturday and they led 3-1 in the game only to concede two late goals.
That put the fate of the title in the hands of the league officials due to Uppingham having an outstanding game against Stilton originally played earlier in the season.
After having two players sent off, an alleged incident in the referees’ dressing room led to the game being abandoned when Uppingham were 1-0.
The league had to decide whether to order a replay or award the game to Uppingham.
And on Tuesday it decided to do the latter, earning the Rutland side the title.
Moulton released a statement saying: “As a club, we do accept the decision, but we cannot understand why it took so long for it to be made, leaving both ourselves and Uppingham in limbo when either club should have been celebrating.
“It has been one hell of a battle this season and we congratulate Paul Sheehan and his team on their title win. For now we concentrate on the cup.”
