More funding put into programme

The latest round of crowd funding is available for community projects.

The South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership, of which South Holland District Council is a part, has announced the latest round of its crowd fund thanks to a grant of £45,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
Having initially launched the South and East Lincs Crowd Programme in February, the new funding round builds on the existing funds available meaning £135,000 is now available.
A spokesman said: “This enables local residents across the sub-region to access funding for community improvement initiatives.
“The crowdfunding nature of this programme, in conjunction with local authority funding, maximises the amount campaigners can raise to deliver transformational community projects.
“The South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership and Spacehive (which runs it) are keen to hear from residents who have an innovative idea to improve their local area to get involved.
“No fundraising experience is necessary – 65 per cent of Spacehive creators are creating a community project for the first time.
“Spacehive assists project creators with online workshops, one-to-one support and resources, providing advice on everything from project costs to campaign promotion.”
Among the money granted so far is £2,000 for a dog play paddock and exercise area in Tydd St Mary.
In a joint statement, Boston Borough Councillor Emma Cresswell portfolio holder for communities (people), East Lindsey district councillor Sarah Devereux, portfolio holder for partnerships and south Holland District Councillor Tracey Carter, deputy leader and portfolio holder for communities and operational housing said: “One of our main ambitions as a partnership is to help better support our communities across the sub-region, our crowdfunding platform allows us to do just that – ensuring the projects that matter most to communities get the support they deserve.”
“With enough contributions of as little of £1, often mean the council can assist a project in some way; so we’d really encourage our residents to have a look at the platform and see if there are any projects you would be interesting in donating to.”
