Man in 80s seriously injured in one of three collisions that closed the A17 for 13 hours.

A man has been seriously injured in one of three collisions that closed the A17 for 13 hours last night (Wednesday, December 20).

The most serious incident saw a black Vauxhall Zafira and black Ford Ranger collide at 3.40pm at the junction with Churchgate at Gedney.

A man in his 80s travelling in the Zafira suffered serious injuries.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “We are now seeking additional information and asking anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

Air ambulances attended the incident. A spokesman said: “The Magpas Air Ambulance medical team was called to a road traffic collision on the A17 on Wednesday (20th), arriving via a rapid response vehicle at 4:34 pm.

“They worked alongside Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance at the scene and treated one patient. Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance conveyed one patient by air to Queen’s Medical Centre.”

Incidents were also reported at Holbeach and in Fleet along the road. Lincolnshire Police said there were no injuries in the incident at Fleet.
