Man convicted of drink driving for third time

A Spalding motorist convicted of a third drink-driving offence has been banned for 46 months.

Police had received a tip-off that Nauris Mulers (41) might be over the limit.

They were in Hannam Boulevard looking for his Ford C-Max car at about 7.30pm on April 17.

“They saw it turn into the road from Pennygate,” said prosecutor Paul Wood at Boston Magistrates’
Court on Wednesday.

Mulers was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving in Corinne Grove, where he lives.

A test in custody gave a reading of 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; the legal limit being 35.

The court was told he had a similar previous conviction within the last ten years – triggering a mandatory minimum three-year ban – and another from 2011.

Phillipa Chatterton, mitigating, said Mulers had no intention of driving that night.

“However, his 17-year-old daughter rang to say a man was following her. His first thought was to go out and find her.

“He got to the location and she wasn’t there. It turned Grandma had found her.

“He returned home and police saw and stopped him.”

Mulers, who admitted drink-driving, can cut the length of his disqualification with a drink-driver rehabilitation course.

He was fined £355 and ordered to pay £142 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
