LETTERS – Workmen working from home?

I live in Fleet Hargate and had to go out to do some shopping recently.
A lot of Fleet Hargate has roadworks (gas apparently) but I was shocked to see all the cones/traffic lights etc in Holbeach and Long Sutton.
I totally understand that repairs/replacements have to be made for the utilities, but they don’t do themselves. I did not see one workman. Yes lots of cones, disruptions for drivers with slow moving traffic but where are the workman?
I went out both am and pm and still saw absolutely no-one. Working from home perhaps?
