LETTER: Something to be done about A16 junction?

I have just read the headlines in the Lincolnshire Free Press, 05/04/2016 –The safety of A16 now in government’s hands.

As many of your readers may know, I have campaigned against this killer junction the A16 old Radar Corner, since it was first opened.

I’ve recently held a positive meeting with MP John Hayes, both agreeing something must be done concerning this junction and parts of the road before more drivers are seriously or fatally injured.

Over the last two months I’ve been in contact with Richard Davies at Lincolnshire’s Highways Department. His opinion – there is not a problem, it’s the drivers, plus money. We all know the drivers are the main problems.

My opinion, we must be protected from them.

After my meeting with Mr Hayes he is now trying to arrange a meeting with Mr Davies to discuss the ongoing problems.

Now it looks due to the safety issues of this junction, the senior coroner Prof Robert Forrest has bypassed the Highways Department and is now writing to the Secretary of State for Transport.

Mr Davies, is it not about time you left your office and looked at this junction? Also start listening to the sensible road users.

A question for you – have you ever been and looked at the junction when it’s at its busiest time or at any time?

At last I’m so pleased someone, hopefully, is going to listen to the local residents of the area.

I’m sorry to say it has taken lives to get to this point.
