Hospital’s thanks to duo

Two people who have helped run the community led Holbeach Hospital are retiring.
Jean Ruck and Jean Garner were presented with gifts and cards to thank them for giving up their time and knowledge to help the hospital for many years.
Jean Ruck has been helping at the hospital for well over 20 years, through the League of Friends and as a trustee since 2011.
She spent many years organising monthly entertainment for the hospital as well as running the trolley shop.

Jean only missed one musical session in the last 13 years and has been a familiar face to staff and visitors. She is a former civil servant who volunteered for the League of Friends in 1998 where she remains a member.
Jean Garner is a former manager of the hospital, who has been a trustee since 2017.
She has led the Care Standards sub-committee and has shared her knowledge and experience in quality assurance. Jean managed Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital Trust (HEEHT) from 2002 to 2005, and returned to join as a trustee when she retired.
Jean said: “HEEHT is a unique organisation and I value the contribution of all the members of staff and the trustees, both past and present, who have worked to provide the community with such an extraordinary healthcare organisation.”
Jean Ruck was presented with an original painting of the hospital, painted by local artist Phil Biggs to honour her many years as a trustee. Jean Garner was presented with a fountain pen.
Chairman Chris Penney presented their gifts and thanked them for their many years of service.
Hospital manager Julia Scott said: “I would like to thank Jean Ruck and Jean Garner for volunteering to give up their time freely as trustees for the benefit of the hospital and the community we serve.
“The hospital is extremely fortunate to have a board of trustees willing to give up their time, knowledge and experience to support the trust.”
