Home duo are fourth

Ninety-two competitors from 16 different clubs took part in Spalding Golf Club’s Senior Mixed Open.

 
The winners were Ted and Carol Dunn (Peterborough Milton) with 46 points from Mick and Doris Sissins (Burghley Park and Nene Park respectively) on 44 points.

 
Brian and Jane Marriott (Boston) took third on 43 points on countback from John Camm and Angela Roper (Spalding).

 
There were six successful twos (all on the ninth) from Andy Reedman, Bob Pearson, Willie Ford (all Spalding), Mick Sissins (Burghley), Pearl Powell (Benton Hall) and Anthony Woolley (Norwood Park).

 
In the latest matches played, Spalding were away to Thorney lakes and came away with a 5-3 win.

 
Winning pairs were John Camm and John Woods 2&1, Mike Browning and Brian Reynolds 4&3, Neil Knighton and Steve Leggett 2-up, Ray Andrew and John Beba 3&1.

 
Halves were achieved by Mike Gould and Alan Pritchard and Roger Davey and Rod Filby. The two losing pairs were Ron Rolfe and Albert Jacobs 3&2 and Bernard Herbert and Brian Freir 5&4.

 
At home to Stoke Rochford, Spalding edged a close 4.5-2.5 victory.

 
Winning pairs were Mike Gould and Paddy Goslyn, Peter Bridge and Steve Leggett, Neil Knighton and Albert Jacobs.

 
Halves were achieved by Dennis Farnsworth and Andy Ladbrook, Lester Pybus and Andy Reedman and Bernard Herbert and Ray Andrew. Losing pairs were John Tilling and Colin Preece and Ron Rolfe and Roger Davey.

 
In a new fixture for this season, Spalding were at Newark and came away with a very good 7-3 win.

 
Winning pairs were John Camm and Roger Davey 4&3, Dennis Farnsworth and Rod Hunt 2up, Steve Leggett and John Beba 4&3, Tony Holbrook and Peter Bridge 6&5, Monty Brittain and Johnny Walker 2-up, Bernard Herbert and Brendan D’Abreo 1-up.

 
Halves were recorded by Ron Sudbury and Sid Chapman and Albert Jacobs and Rod Filby. Losers were Mike Gould and Lester Pybus and Ged Cox and Barrie Hutson.

 
The team also ran out 5.5-2.5 victors at home to Luffenham Heath.
