Holbeach United sink basement boys as Moulton Harrox and Pinchbeck United set up final date

Holbeach United climbed up to fourth in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division table with a 3-1 win over rock bottom Huntingdon Town on Saturday.

Player/assistant boss Andrew Tidswell fired the Tigers ahead from a Josh Ford cross at Carter’s Park, but they were pegged back by an equaliser just before the break.

The roles then reversed in the second period as Tidswell set up Holbeach’s second for Ford to bury, then Jake Clitheroe secured the points for Tom Roberts’ charges with number three.

It was a great day for the Tigers’ title hopes, with leaders Kempston Rovers held to a surprise 0-0 draw by Harborough Town and second-placed Leicester Nirvana losing 2-1 at home to Wisbech Town.

That leaves Holbeach some 14 points behind Kempston with three games in hand – and the duo still to play each again other later in the season.

Meanwhile, a sizzling all-South Holland final was set up in the ChromaSport PDFL.

Fierce rivals Moulton Harrox and Pinchbeck United will square off in the President Premier Shield final after both enjoyed convincing semi-final successes.

Premier Division leaders Harrox thrashed Netherton United 3-0 at Broad Lane, thanks to goals from Ollie Maltby, Joe Townsend and sub Ben Allen.

Pinchbeck, meanwhile, went one better and won 4-0 at AFC Stanground as Ash Murrell, Brad Murrell, Tony Edwards and player/boss Ian Dunn all bagged.

In the Premier Division, Crowland Town earned a 1-0 win at Riverside and Holbeach United Reserves lost 1-0 at Peterborough Sports Reserves.

More on all matches at www.spaldingvoice.co.uk throughout the week, with plenty of football in Thursday’s edition of The Spalding and South Holland Voice.
