In-form Holbeach United are bidding to extend their money-spinning run in The Emirates FA Cup this weekend.
The Tigers welcome North Worcestershire-based Stourport Swifts to Carter’s Park on Saturday (3pm) for a tough-looking first round qualifying tie.
Whoever wins will bank £3,000 in prize money – which would take their total tally close to £6,500 for the competition so far.
Holbeach haven’t progressed past this stage for quite some time, but go into the clash in top form.
Derby wins over Wisbech Town and Boston Town were followed by a 3-2 victory over Oadby Town last weekend, leaving boss Darren Jarvis in a confident mood. He admits prize money is Holbeach’s top aim, but wants to keep the winning run alive.
He said: “Everybody knows that, at this level, the FA Cup is all about the financial reward.
“It’s great to be involved in the competition, but if we can progress through a few more rounds the financial benefits will be incredible for our finances. The club hasn’t got past this stage in quite a while, so we’re gunning to keep our run going. We couldn’t really be on a better run of form.
“With three wins on the trot under our belt and no midweek match, we’ve also had the perfect preparation.
“It’s up to me to keep our intensity and tempo going, but I’m confident that won’t be a problem.
“I’ve spoken to a few contacts about Stourport, but haven’t seen them myself. Ultimately it’s about my team being the best we can be – that’s what we’ll concentrate on.
“I’m confident we can get the job done.”
Stourport are second in the Midlands League Premier Division having won four of their five games so far. They won 4-0 at Pegasus Juniors last time out to progress in the FA Vase.
Holbeach will have Ollie Pinner back from suspension, while Stacy Cartwright is fully fit again after illness. But Jamie Stevens (ankle ligament damage) will remain sidelined for at least a few months.
Nick Jackson (cup tied) is also out, but new signings Ollie Gale and Jordan Thomas are free to feature.
