Holbeach Tesco’s big support for regeneration of Carter’s Park

Holbeach Tesco has now handed over a total of £16,500 towards the regeneration of Carter’s Park.

On Tuesday (Jan 10), Holbeach Parish Council was presented with £4,500 collected in store by staff and parish councillors. This added to a £12,000 grant by Tesco from its Bags of Help scheme in which money raised from the government’s 5p carrier bag charge is used to fund local community projects.

The cash means that provision of outdoor gym equipment in a new free exercise area is expected to be ready by spring. Further scheduled work includes a new fence around the bowls club area, extra seating, replacement paths to join up with the area completed last year and planting of bulbs and roses.

Parish council parks chairman Coun Paul Foyster said: “We are very grateful to Tesco for their financial backing which has allowed us to commission the new gym area at very little cost to ratepayers. “
