Holbeach hits the attractions trail

Holbeach is well and truly on the map with its own video, app and a new wall of art showcasing the town.

The new phone and tablet app aims to have information about Holbeach at the touch of a finger and it has been officially launched.

The scheme and a new video promoting the town have been funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

The app was the idea of district and county councillor Tracey Carter and takes on her Love Holbeach branding.

Working with Peterborough-based company Robin Road, it’s available on both Apple and Android devices.

She’s encouraged local businesses to get their details on the app and there’s also essential phone numbers.

Coun Carter said: “I’m really delighted with it.

“It’s really simple to use and really useful with everything you need to know about in Holbeach.

“First and foremost it’s for the good of the town.

“So many businesses have signed up and it includes links to their Facebook pages and websites so you can see what they sell.

“I think it really highlights that the vast majority of items you’re after can be purchased right here in Holbeach.”

It also includes phone numbers for local services, councillors, education and medical information, while Coun Carter is also looking to promote events in the town via the app.

“It’s a one stop shop for everything that’s going on in the town. “

The app is available by downloading Robin Road from your app store and searching for Love Holbeach.

The video, Welcome to Holbeach, was funded by the Welcome Back initiative and a version in on the Holbeach Local Facebook page.

There will also be a video added to the South Holland District Council YouTube channel. It features a number of local businesses.

And local artists Adam Sadd and Karl Barfoot have created a work of art that’s attracting attention and being used as a selfie backdrop in the town.

The two artists spent the weekend creating the mural on boards erected at Boston Road car park.

The work was funded from the same pot and Coun Carter said it has been very well received and caused a lot of positive comments.
