Groups wanted for disability dance performance event at South Holland Centre

Dance and drama groups with a disability or inclusive focus are wanted by Transported and artsNK who are putting on a show in March at the South Holland Centre.

The free performance on Friday, March 9, will be the second of the organisation’s Inclusive Dance Platform events.

The night will be headlined with a performance by professional dance group Casson & Friends, which features some of the UK’s leading disabled dancers.

Amy Dalton-Hardy, Head of Dance & Circus Development for artsNK & Transported, said taking part in the show could be full of benefits.

“I am extremely proud to be presenting our second dance platform for disabled organisations based in Lincolnshire. Based on our first show in 2017, we know that the power of young people dancing on stage, to their friends and families proves to be a life changing and memorable experience.

“It also helps confidence, enables disabled young people to access performance near them and offers a unique opportunity not readily available elsewhere in the country.”

The open call for performers to take part states: “Dance groups can be of mixed ages, mixed disabilities or a support group for a specific condition – we are very open and our mission is to include everyone.”

The call adds that dance pieces can be in any style, but the music must be suitable for a family audience.

Performances can include a set and props, which must be taken by performers, along with own costumes and music. Pieces must be between three and 10 minutes in length.
