‘Great job’ as SLCSC bag big medal haul

A team of 23 South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club members returned home from the Nova Centurion November Meet in Nottingham with an impressive 32 medals.

Kieran Ng was competing for the Spalding-based club in the boys’ 12 years age group and collected no less than four gold medals over the two days of competition – and set new personal best (PB) times in all of the events he contested.
A new PB and club record came in the 200m IM, with golds in the 50m and 200m freestyle before he clocked a new PB en-route to victory in the 200m backstroke.
Thomas Bruce also collected a brace of gold medals in the boys’ 16 years age group as he had a tremendous weekend of swimming.
Younger sister Hannah Bruce was also in action in the girls’ 13 years group, winning a couple of medals.
She took silver in the 800m freestyle with an impressive PB, before bagging bronze in the 400m freestyle with another new best.
Kitty Lamb produced some excellent swims over the course of the meet in the girls’ 11 years age group, winning medals galore.
She struck gold in the 50m breaststroke with a PB, then added four silver medals in the 50m (PB) and 200m backstroke as well as the 200m freestyle (PB) and the 50m butterfly.
Lucy Wilson also claimed five medals over the course of the weekend in the girls’ 12 years group, with all done in PB time.
She topped the podium with an impressive 400m freestyle swim, while there were silver medals in both the 50m and 200m freestyle.
Wilson also claimed silver medals in the 200m butterfly and 400m IM.
Meanwhile, Alex Sadler won a hat-trick of medals in the boys’ 15 years age group and took home one of each colour.
He took gold in the 1,500m freestyle, silver in the 400m freestyle and then bronze in the 50m freestyle in a PB time.
Oscar Goldsmith also collected a medal treble in the boys’ 14 years group, making it trio of bronzes over the weekend.
The 200m IM yielded a PB and third, with the 400m IM and 1,500m his other medal-winning shows.
Emily Briggs was also a bronze medallist in the girls’ 13 years age group.
That came in the 800m freestyle as she came within a whisker of a new PB.
Emma Croker was in action over the course of the weekend, having progressed from the junior to the senior ranks of swimming in the girls’ 17 years section.
She won silver in both the 50m and 100m freestyle events, setting season’s best times. A PB followed in the 400m freestyle.
Meanwhile, Daniela Bringeman had the swim of her life in the girls’ 15 years age group.
She lowered her PB by five seconds to claim a brilliant bronze in the 200m backstroke.
Her older brother Rico Bringeman was also in action in the boys’ 17 years group having just completed rehabilitation following a minor injury.
He acquitted himself well and even claimed the bronze medal in the 200m butterfly with a season’s best time.
Matteo Monaco is moving into excellent form and swam exceptionally well over the course of the meet, setting numerous PB times in the boys’ 13 years age group.
He saved his best performance for his final event of the competition, the 1,500m freestyle, smashing his PB by 12 seconds as he won the gold medal.
Beatrice Finch also put in some exceptional swims over the weekend and clocked up numerous PB times in the girls’ 16 years age group.
She took the silver medal in the 400m IM with a new best.
South Lincs Head Coach Keith Haynes said: “I’m delighted with the swimmers’ achievements over the weekend.
“They have done a great job and are moving into good form. This all bodes extremely well for County Championships in January and February of 2023.”
