Gosberton A’s slip-up allows Services F to go four clear in Division Three

Services F have opened up a four-point lead at the top of Spalding and District Snooker League Division Three after battling to a 4-2 win at Pyramid E.

Frame victories from Jack Chilvers (O14), Oliver Turner (O21) – on the black – and Gareth Lamb (R7) were enough for the Spalding side to claim their ninth win from ten matches.

Second-placed Gosberton A, meanwhile, went down 4-2 at Services B as they suffered only their second beating of the season so far.

Jeff Collins (R14) won the penultimate frame to seal the success for fifth-placed Services.

Whittlesey C, who remain third, also lost ground on the pace-setters after being handed a 5-1 reverse by hosts Consti A.

Paul Kent (R21), Graham Ridley (R14), Steve Hall (R7) and Nigel Steadman (R14) were all on winning form for the Spalding side, who are now just one point behind their victims in fourth.

Long Sutton C continued their solid run of form with a 5-1 win at Whittlesey B, with only a black-ball victory from Sam Mancuso (O7) over David Lefley (scr) denying them a whitewash.

Breaks of 21 and 20 from Martin Perkins (O21) and John Cooper (R14) helped Consti D edge their all-club derby with Consti E 4-2.

Up in the top flight, it’s as you were with top two Holbeach A and Bourne SC A both 4-2 winners.

Holbeach remain one point ahead after seeing off basement boys Consti B, while Bourne SC A edged out Pyramid A thanks to Ian Clare’s (O14) 51-49 black-ball win over Eric Wyer (scr) at the death.

Services E lost ground on the top two, though, as they went down 4-2 against an in-form Long Sutton A.

A 41 break from Wayne Dent (O42) and a 40 break from Stuart Atkin (O42) helped them clinch the lion’s share of the points.

Donington C are now in the top six after they dispatched hosts Long Sutton A 5-1.

A 20 break from Matt Turner and a black-ball success from Lee Hempsall (scr) were the highlights.

Elsewhere, Division Two leaders Crowland C passed a tough test of their title credentials with a 4-2 triumph at Holbeach C.

This one went the distance, with Joel Sheers (R7) grabbing a crucial final frame victory.

However, they are now two points clear of Consti I – having played a game more – after they dispatched hosts Pyramid D 5-1.

Pyramid B remain third after seeing off Gosberton B 4-2. Spencer Dawkins (O49) made a 29 break in a black-ball win for them, while Adam Twigg (O7) notched a 22 clearance for Gosberton.

There was also a fine 27 clearance from Kev Fitter (O7) as Services C defeated Holbeach B 4-2.
