Goals galore at Surfleet as MSM secure shock success

An impressive 50 goals were scored in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League on Monday night.

The Division One highlights at Surfleet’s Glen Park saw Tekkers continue their perfect start and champions Polishborough win 7-0, while in Division Two Puyol Pants Down made it five from five.

The top tier got underway with arguably the most surprising result of the season so far, as basement boys Mirror Signal Malouda upset last season’s runner’s-up Pro Ballers 2-1 to register their first points of the season.

MSM keeper Stuart Chase was the star man, but his side produced a defensive masterclass and broke superbly.

Game two saw You’ve Got No Fans overturn a 2-0 deficit to defeat Notinmymums Forest 3-2 in the first of a few top comebacks on the night.

With frontman Guy Mantle in man-of-the-match (MOTM) form, the winner came with seconds to spare.

Then came the lowest scoring game of the night, as Univeg Team battled hard to squeeze past East Europa 1-0 and make it two wins on the spin.

MOTM Jorge Soares organised the Univeg midfield to deadly effect in this one.

Match four saw Polishborough return from the national championships on Saturday in a free-scoring mood.

They romped past Old Boy Coaches 7-0, dumping them to the foot of the table in the process. Krzysiek Goldyn was named MOTM.

The Poles were on a high, having been the side which progressed furthest from the North Cambridgeshire and South Lincs patch at the nationals, making the last 64.

Next up, The Squad managed their second win of the campaign, overcoming last week’s defeat to beat Evolution 2-1 in a game that wasn’t for the football purist.

Reagan Brown claimed his second MOTM prize of the season in this clash.

The final Division One match of the night was a fifth straight win for Tekkers, as they cemented top spot.

They turned over a shell-shocked and frustrated Simple FC 4-0, with Billy King taking the MOTM award.

Division Two got under way with a real thriller, as Mail Carters performed wonders to push leaders Puyol Pants Down to the wire.

Eventually, Puyol were able to secure the 3-2 win with moments to spare.

A thoroughly entertaining game, Dan Woods eventually made the difference for Puyol as he impressed referee Matt Jackson to secure MOTM.

Nibblesborough FC then made light work of Bowlcut Wanderers FC, as they smashed them 6-1 to climb up to third in the table.

Jordan Graham was MOTM in this one after another eye-catching display.

Game three saw Sarah’s Boys stage the biggest comeback on the season. 4-1 down to an on-fire Posh Old Boys at half-time, it looked like a potential cricket score.

However, a second-half wonder-show from the Boys meant they roared back to draw 5-5.

That clash was followed by another stalemate, as Tekkerslovakia and Balotellitubbies played out a 1-1 draw.

Both sides will probably agree that the scoreline was a fair reflection in a game that saw Stuart Boswell named as MOTM.

The penultimate fixture in Division Two was a 1-0 win for FC Barnicols against BK’s Athletic. It was BK’s who enjoyed the better opening exchanges, but they couldn’t find a way through –

allowing Barnicols and MOTM Reece Parker to turn up the heat.

The final game of the night saw The TBME fail to penetrate Dynamo Kiev as they threw away a leading position to draw 1-1.

Struggling Kiev were delighted by their first point of the season, which was secured by MOTM Jacob Gedney following a swift break.
