Glorious sunshine and tonnes of fun at Moulton Chapel Flower Festival

The sun came out to play and saw Moulton Chapel celebrate one of its busiest parades in recent history.

Crowds of spectators were treated to a whole host of characters as floats travelled through the village.

Everyone from the Mad Hatter to pop group The Village People could be found in the heart of the South Holland countryside.

Chairman of the organising committee Jenny Stanberry said it had been a great Bank Holiday.

“It was the busiest I think I have ever seen it. We had fantastic weather which obviously helped and it had a real family day out feeling,” she said.

“It feels like I sent hundreds of cars down to the field.”

Jenny added that the demise of other events in the area may well have benefited Moulton Chapel.

“It is a shame, but there doesn’t seem to be so much on as there once was, but we had more people,” she said.

The winning float was the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party put together by the Moss family, who live in the village.

There was also a scarecrow competition over the weekend which was won by

Jacob Booth who created Dennis the Menace and Gnasher.

This year was the 38th parade held in Moulton Chapel and the committee will hold its annual meeting next month.
