Free personal safety advice for all from ex-detective at Holbeach session

A free advice session about personal safety in and out of the home is being offered.

Holbeach district councillors Francis Biggadike and Tracey Carter and Holbeach county councillor Nick Worth have organised the Staying Safe session run by former police detective Stuart Gibbons.
Topics will include:

  • home security
  • bogus callers and rogue traders
  • scammers
  • personal safety
  • safe shopping
  • safe use of cashpoints

Coun Carter said: “We all feel very passionate about doing all we can to ensure that residents are as safe and secure as they can be and are fully armed with as much knowledge as possible to enable them to be as security conscious as they can be.”
The advice might be particularly useful to vulnerable residents – those on their own, elderly or who have physical or mental illnesses.
Anyone is welcome to go or attend on behalf of someone else.

Coun Carter added: “We will be contacting many groups in the town directly to ensure as many people are aware of this invaluable session, and we hope that it empowers people to be able to feel a little more safe, while picking up some additional tips and advice.
“Everyone is welcome.”

The Staying Safe session, is at The Holbeach Hub in Boston Road on Friday, December 4 at 2pm.
There will be a question and answer session and tea and coffee served. The session will last approximately one hour.

Organisers are asking people to book places for the session. To confirm attendance or for any questions email tcarter@sholland.gov.uk or contact one of the district councillors.
