SPOT-ON: Moulton skipper Billy King buried a penalty at Sawtry.

Four-midable Moulton Harrox ease to Shield success

In-form Moulton Harrox continued their blistering start to the new season with a 4-1 President Premier Shield win at Sawtry on Saturday.

Despite winning all five of their ChromaSport Peterborough Premier Division games so far, Harrox were a little rusty – having gone ten days without a match.

Ian Bradbury’s cracking header put Dave Panton’s side ahead, only for Sawtry to make it 1-1 at half time.

Moulton were dominant after the break and Ben Allen, who hit the post twice, scored number two.

A confident penalty by skipper Billy King then made it 3-1, before sub Adam Abell headed number four to seal the win.

Panton said: “After a great August I wanted us to carry on where we left off. After the break it was obvious we had lost that edge – but as the game progressed we started to play better and better.

“Possession improved and quality passing came back into the squad.

“I thought skipper Billy King – after missing two penalties over the last couple of weeks – showed great character to smash in this one, showing it had no effect on his confidence.

“I also want to congratulate Ian Bradbury, Ben Allen, Billy King and Phil Groves for being selected to represent the league’s ‘rep team’. They have played really well and deserve the recognition.”

Harrox: Kenealy, Cardell, Patterson, Coddington, Allen, Townsend, King, Placis, L Steadman, Sandall, Bradbury. Subs (used): Abell, Wheeler.

Saturday: Leverington v Moulton (2pm).
