Ford double steers Holbeach Reserves to comfortable win over Uppingham

With Holbeach United’s ChromaSport UCL Premier Division trip to Leicester Nirvana called off due to a waterlogged pitch on Saturday it was the Tigers’ Reserves who enjoyed a goal-scoring boost.

That came in the form of first-team striker Josh Ford, who dropped down a few levels to help Holbeach Reserves beat Uppingham Town 3-0 in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division.

Winger Paul Newcombe also notched for Omar Joof’s side at Carter’s Park as the Tigers’ second string climbed up to seventh.

Also in the PDFL’s top tier, Connah Hunt’s strike earned Crowland Town a 1-1 draw with Stilton United at Snowden Field.

Down in Division One, Martin Sandall helped himself to a hat-trick to fire Moulton Harrox Reserves to a 7-0 win over Langtoft Reserves at Broad Lane.

Declan Earth, Nigel Steadman, Ben Wiggins and John Ball also bagged for Moulton, who are now fourth in the table.

It was a day to forget for Spalding United Reserves in the same division, though, as they collapsed to an 8-0 loss at Warboys.

Crowland Town Reserves were the big winners of the week with a 10-0 victory at Thorney Reserves in Division Two.

But it was Spalding Town who were involved in the division’s most high-profile game. They lost 2-1 to promotion rivals Oakham Reserves at the Castle, despite a strike from Markus Parry.

Elsewhere, Mircea Vechiv’s goal earned Pinchbeck United Reserves a 1-1 draw with Sawtry Reserves at Knight Street.

Down in Division Four, Whaplode Drove romped to a 4-1 derby win at Tydd St Mary Reserves. Lee Jackson (2), Luke Baines and Jake Baines notched for Drove, with Tom Chenery the Saints’ scorer.

Also in winning form were Holbeach Bank, who beat Warboys Reserves 2-1.
