Food hygiene ratings in South Holland never been so good

The number of businesses in South Holland with acceptable Food Hygiene Ratings is at an all-time high.

Fewer than two per cent of the 625 premises need work to be brought up to scratch.
Of the 98.1 per cent with no concerns, 363 are rated very good, 161 are good, and 89 are satisfactory.

Seven require improvement and four are deemed “major improvement necessary”. None have the lowest rating of 0.

Coun Malcolm Chandler, South Holland District Council’s portfolio holder for food, health and safety, said: “The protection of the public is our highest priority and we continue to work actively with businesses to assist them with standards.
“Businesses can be re-appraised at three monthly intervals when progress has been made. The dedicated work of our officers and businesses give testimony to the ever-improving standards across the district.
“However, where standards continually fail to be met we will deal firmly with the small number of businesses where there are breaches of compliance to essential standards.”

He added: “I strongly recommend that members of the public use the ratings with confidence and enjoy meals out in establishments who show they care.”

The council’s food, health and safety team supports businesses to help them boost their ratings. Training courses offered range from the Level 2/3 Food Hygiene course to bespoke courses.
