Families go green-fingered

Green-fingered families enjoyed a gardening workshop as part of South Holland District Council’s SHout and About competition.

The event took place at Silverwood Garden Centre in Long Sutton where participants learned how to fertilise and care for plants as well as enjoying a variety of gardening-themed games. They also got to take away a hanging basket of pansies and herbs.

Similar workshops were held in Holbeach, Spalding, Crowland and Donington led by Rick Aaron from Lincolnshire Master Gardeners with those taking part earning competition points.

The workshops covered composting, the master gardener programme and seed planting.

SHout and About runs for the next nine weeks and invites people to take part in weekly fun activities.
