Dunn salutes Jordan’s display as Pinchbeck United are held by rivals Sports

Ian Dunn paid tribute to an “incredible” goalkeeping display from keeper Lea Jordan as his Pinchbeck United side were held to a 1-1 draw by Peterborough Sports Reserves on Saturday.

Two of the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division’s top sides went head-to-head at Knight Street, but it was Pinchbeck who were the most disappointed by the share of the spoils.

Danny Steward gave third-placed Sports a half-time lead in fortuitous fashion when his cross found its way into the near top corner.

Dan Woods, who had earlier missed a one-on-one, levelled five minutes into the second period with his 15th goal in ten games.

He combined well with Dunn and slid the ball under Jordan, who was in otherwise unbeatable form.

Indeed, the Sports stopper made at least seven super stops in a man-of-the-match performance – leaving Dunn massively impressed.

“You just have to take your hat off to him,” said Dunn. “He was absolutely incredible.

“It felt like one of those days, I just didn’t think we’d beat him. He made seven or eight amazing saves.

“It was actually a really good game. The play was end-to-end, even though we created much more than them, and there was a bit of needle in the match.

“I’m disappointed with the draw, but we can take a lot from the performance.

“They have the best defence in the league, but we carved them open a number of times.

“It shows how far we’ve come as a team. They were the last team to beat us in the league, but this time we deserved to win.”

Both sides had players sent off, with Tony Edwards and Dan Fountain given their marching orders.

The draw leaves Pinchbeck fourth.

Pinchbeck: Dickinson, Leggett, A Murrell, Brown, B Murrell, Bishop, Gardner, Ogden, Dunn, Woods, Edwards. Subs used: Lawe, Vechiv, Withers.
