Ian Dunn refused to hit out at ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division title rivals Peterborough Sports Reserves after they called in the big guns on Tuesday night.

First-teamers Mark Jones and Josh Moreman – key figures in the side that has romped to the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division title this season – both played as Sports beat Pinchbeck 4-2 in the crunch clash to move four points clear of them at the top of the table.

Ricki Goodale (20) gave hosts Sports the lead, but Liam Ogden (30) soon levelled.

A Moreman stunner and a Gary Gibbs strike put the hosts 3-1 up at half time, though, before Andy Boome (70) notched number four.

Ollie Maltby’s 57th of the season gave Pinchbeck hope, but they suffered a league loss for the first time since the reverse fixture way back in August.

Player/boss Dunn said: “We’d have been naive to think it wouldn’t happen. I’ve got no problem with Sports using the big guns, that’s their right.

“Maybe we should see it as a compliment, they were obviously worried about us.

“Moreman was unplayable at times, as you’d expect, and his goal was stunning.

“Regardless of who we were up against, our first half wasn’t good enough.

“We looked star-struck and it was a different Pinchbeck side to the one we’ve seen in recent games.

“We’re still in the title race, though. They’ve still got to play Netherton and Moulton, so we’ll see how that develops.”

Pinchbeck: Martin, Lawe, Gardner, Shipley, Smith, Brooks, Edwards, Bishop, Maltby, Dunn, Ogden. Subs; Ross, Eyes, Panton, Ramos.

Attendance: 120.
