Donington open five-point lead at top of Division One

With three matches to go until the end of the season, Donington C have opened up a five-point lead at the top of Division One in the Spalding and District Snooker League.

They beat Consti G 4-2 thanks to wins from Mick Pearl (O21), Ben Wrigglesworth (O35) and Mat Turner (O14).
Ady Sibley (O35) and Martin Deacon (O14) got the points for Consti, who slip from fourth to sixth.
Second-placed Services A lost ground, going down 4-2 at home to friendly foe Services C, who now sit in fifth.
Vince Fitter (O35) got the A team off to a good start, beating brother Craig (O63) 99-42, before Jordan Philpott (R7) equalled the scoreline, with his victory over Martin Spencer (O28).
Geoff Hemsil (R21) put the A team back in the driving seat with his win against Chris Dunmore (O35) before Phil Spencer (O7) made it all square again with a convincing 65-8 win over Shane Cummins (O14).
It all came down to the final frame and Kev Fitter (O14) took the spoils – and the match – beating Jake Haslam (O21).
Consti E have jumped from fifth to third thanks to a 5-1 home win over Bourne SC A, who are now fourth.
Simon Law (O7), Jack Chilvers (O14), Ben Peppercorn (O7) and James Kingston (O14) were the winners for Consti E, while Ian Clare (scr) grabbed a single point for Bourne.
Sutton Bridge are trying to claw their way out of the relegation zone – and a 5-1 win over Holbeach D will help with that challenge.
They are still propping up the rest of the table but are now only four points adrift of the two teams sitting directly above them.
In a mid-table clash, Pyramid C took on Consti H, with Pyramid emerging 4-2 winners.
There were several breaks during the match, including a 32 and a 26 from Pyramid’s Jason Green (O63) in his win over Doug Garfoot (O28) and a 26 from Spencer Dawkins (O56), who beat Nathan Wilson (O14) on the black. Richard Skellett (O14) was Pyramid’s other winner.
Holbeach C got the better of club mates Holbeach E, thanks to wins from father and son Paul (R7) and Dan Ashton (O7) and Mark Gregory (O35), who won the deciding frame against Phil Coaten (O14) to give the C team the victory.
Boundary A were the winners in their match against Bourne SC B.
Pete King (scr), Daniel Smith (O7) and Andy Mowforth (O7) took the first three frames, beating Elliot Gaunt (O28), Mark Stoker (O7) and Gary Surridge (O7) respectively to give Boundary the points.
Jake Mitchell (O28) and Joey Scampion (R7) were the winners for Bourne, giving them a couple of consolation points.
It’s as you were for the top eight teams in Division Two.
Pyramid D are holding on at the top, but a 4-2 loss for them has allowed second-placed Pyramid A to capitalise and close the gap to just three points.
Consti F got the better of Pyramid D thanks to wins from Darren Stanley (R28), Robert Adams (O7) and Justyn Stanley (scr).
Josh Agger (O14) and James Sharpe (O49) were the winners for Pyramid.
Pyramid A are creeping up on them and a 5-1 win over Donington A has helped their championship campaign.
Kevin Hawes (O7) got Donington off to a good start with a win over Victor Rouse (R7), but it went down hill for them after that, as Michael Twell (R7), Matthew Chapman (O14), Norman Vaughan (O21) and Dean Cole (O14) won the next four frames for Pyramid.
Consti B remain in third, three points behind Pyramid A.
It could easily have been a 6-0 win, as the only loser, Steve Spencer (R14), was pipped on the black ball by Jamie Mumby (O14).
Winners for Consti were John Christian (R7), Martin Fear (O7), Mick Johnson (O28) and John Keeton (O7).
Holbeach A are hanging on to fourth place, despite a 5-1 loss away to Services B.
Steve Dent (scr) was their only winner.
Holbeach B are close behind them, with just three points in it. They beat Pyramid B 5-1 thanks to wins from Adi Liquorish (R14), Pete Mullane (O28), Barry Haynes (O7) and Neil Harvey (O14).
Services D retain sixth place with a 4-2 win away to bottom-placed Gosberton D.
Joel Shears (R7), Kevin Robbs (R7) and Ian Smith (scr) got the wins for Services.
Whittlesey C got the better of Donington B, beating them 4-2.
Wins came courtesy of Garry Thewliss (O7), Paul Cook (O14) and Simon Parker (O7).
Down in Division Three, Consti I missed out on a chance to capitalise on leaders Holbeach F’s free week.
Consti lost 6-0 to friendly for Consti C, thanks to wins from Steve Crane (R7) (twice), Mark Craig (R14), Dave Banister (scr) and Kevin Sweeney (R7).
A 5-1 win for Consti J moved them up a place into third.
They beat Gosberton B, who are second-from-bottom, thanks to wins from Jack Howard (scr), Trev Braybrook (R14), Adam Braybrook (scr) and Stewart Davies (O14).
Merv Pattinson (R21) got the single point for Gosberton beating Les Andrew (scr) 71-50.
