Donington C lead the way in a three-way battle for title

It’s close at the top of Division One in the Spalding and District Snooker League, with just three points separating the top two teams.

Donington C are still leading, and won 4-2 but second-placed Services A closed the gap slightly with a 5-1 victory.
Donington (pictured) got the better of Holbeach E, thanks to wins from Shaun Pickering (R21), Mick Pearl (O21) and Neil Favell (O7).
Services A beat Boundary A, with wins from Vince Fitter (O35), Chris Dunmore (O35), Martin Spencer (O28) and Kev Emerson (R7). Jake Haslam (O21) was their only loser, falling to Daniel Smith (O7).
Third-placed Bourne SC A lost ground, after going down 4-2 to mid-table Holbeach D.
Bourne’s Mark Gray (O98) knocked in a 63 break during his frame but it wasn’t enough to see his team to a win.
Third-from-bottom Bourne SC B had a good win, beating fourth-placed Consti G 4-2.
Elliot Gaunt (O28), Mark Stoker (O7) and Ryan Baxter (scr) were the winners.
Services C got a home win over Consti E.
James Kingston (O21) got Consti off to a good start, before Shane Cummins (O14) hit back for Services.
Jack Chilvers (O14) put Consti ahead, before Jordan Philpott (R7) evened the score again.
Nigel Cherry (O7) took the final frame from Martin Ulyatt (O14) to give Services the win.
Holbeach C went down 5-1 at home to Consti H, thanks to wins from Doug Garfoot (O28), Olly Turner (O14), Mark German (O35) and Adam Mayman (O21).
It’s all about Pyramid at the top of Division Two, as their D and A teams sit in first and second place respectively.
Pyramid D beat friendly foe Pyramid B 4-2 to hold on to the top spot, while Pyramid A got the better of Gosberton A 5-1.
Reegan Cooke-Holmes (O21) and Marcus Hamilton (O28) got the D team off to a good start, before Phil Cooke (R7) pinched a frame back.
Pete Jackson (R14) took the fourth frame – and the win – for the D team, while Carl Kelham (R7) nabbed the final frame.
Victor Rouse (R7), Michael Twell (R7), John Twell (O7) and Dean Cole (O14) got the frames for Pyramid A, while Adam Twigg (O14) got the lone point for Gosberton.
Consti B have fallen from second to third, after a heavy loss at Whittlesey C.
Neil Burton (O14), Paul Cook (O14), Simon Parker (O7) and Jason Bloomfield (O21) all won to give Whittlesey a 5-1 victory.
Services D pulled it out the bag to beat Donington B 6-0. Winners on the night were Paul Spicer (O14), Kevin Robbs (R7), Richard Neal (R21), Ian Smith (scr) and Russ Morse (O7).
The loss leaves Donington firmly in the relegation zone, along with Gosberton D, who lost 4-2 to Consti F.
It was all square after four frames with Dan Hanger (R7) and Keith Lungley (O14) winning for Gosberton and Robert Adams (O7) and Bryan Turnell (R14) for Consti, before Justyn Stanley (scr) pipped James Parrott (scr) 47-44 to take the deciding frame.
Holbeach B got the better of Services B, handing them a 5-1 loss.
Holbeach won the first four frames, before Jeff Collins (R14) grabbed a single point for Services.
A pair of 4-2 wins for Holbeach F and Consti I mean things stay the same at the top of Division Three.
Consti C couldn’t do their clubmates a favour, as they lost at the hands of Holbeach, while the I team beat Gosberton C.
David (R21) and Susan Lefley (R21) took the first two frames for Holbeach, before Mark Craig (R14) and Dave Banister (scr) levelled the scoreline.
It came down to the decider and Alex Bourne (O28) got the win, beating Kevin Sweeney (R7) 80-40.
It was a similar story for Consti I, with Jonathan Smith (R21) and John Bellerby (scr) giving them the lead, before Mark Payne (O14) and Stuart Tamplin (R7) took the next two.
Pete Stokes (scr) took on Rob Lockett (R28) in the final frame, winning 70-60.
Consti A leapfrogged Consti J, who didn’t have a match, thanks to a 5-1 win over Consti D.
The loss leaves the D team firmly at the foot of the table.
Just two points above them, Gosberton B did themselves a favour by beating Whittlesey B 4-2, while Donington D had a good 5-1 win over Whittlesey A.
