Crowds out in force for scarecrow event

The annual Moulton Garden Crawl and Scarecrow competition at the weekend proved to be one of the busiest ever.
Held over two days, the event was blessed with superb weather that helped swell the crowds.
Organisers revealed that they were even in danger of running out of programmes such was the high volume of people turning up.
Patricia Ayton-Smith, of the Moulton Community Association, commented: “We were certainly pleased by the turn-out – Sunday being by far the busiest day.
“We think we have raised approximately £1,400, which will go towards the upkeep of the community centre and village hall.”
The winner of the scarecrow competition was one designed in a hammock on Broad Lane, Moulton.
Other activities over the weekend included a find the scarecrow competition for children, with a prize of tickets to the Fun Farm.
David Hemstock’s miniature steam engine was also chugging around the village while Sarah Ekins, of Creation Station, provided craft activities for children.
The village hall was open throughout the weekend for refreshments, barbecue, with stalls such as a tombola and children’s lucky dip.
Moulton Mill was also resplendent with a fantastic flower display from top to bottom by the Spalding and District Flower Lovers’ Club.
The raffle included a superb first prize of a family photoshoot donated by Holbeach Bank photographer Veena Cornish.
Organisers would like to thank all the businesses who donated raffle prizes.
