Complaints lead to police seizing sound system

Sound equipment has been seized from a home in Long Suttton following complaints from the public.

Officers from South Holland District Council’s Environmental Protection team were supported by officers from Spalding Police to execute a warrant at a property in Seagate Terrace, on Thursday, following concerns about noise from members of the public.

As a result a quantity of sound equipment was seized and two men were arrested to prevent a breach of the peace, before being released once the equipment had been removed.

Malcolm Chandler, portfolio holder for environmental services, said: “We take any complaints about noise very seriously and our officers acted following concerns from members of the public.”

A spokesman for South Holland District Council said: “We would like to assure people that seizure takes place only in extreme cases where those responsible for the nuisance have not responded to previous requests to resolve the matter.”

Jim Tyner, community policing inspector, added: “I was pleased to provide support to South Holland District Council, taking positive action to tackle anti social behaviour.”
