Competition offers YOU the chance to make a mark in Pinchbeck United’s history

People in South Holland are being offered the chance to make their mark on the history of Pinchbeck United Football Club.

The Knight Street club, whose first team play in the ChromaSport Peterborough League Premier Division, are running a competition that will see their club badge re-designed and a new club nickname created.

Pinchbeck are offering the winner of the competition £20 in sports store vouchers, but the true prize is knowing you’ll have created something that they could use for decades.

All entries should either be sent to the club’s Twitter account @PinchbeckUnited or emailed to andrew.withers5@btinternet.com.

Player/boss Ian Dunn is looking forward to hearing a few suggestions – and seeing the club finally have a nickname. He said: “It’s just something we thought would be good fun.

“The club doesn’t have a nickname and we felt it was time to re-design the badge.

“Absolutely anyone can enter and there is a prize. But having a say in the future of the club is probably the true prize, the club could use both for years to come.

“I’ve done a bit of research myself and have come up with a nickname that would work, but I don’t want to share it or influence anyone. I’m looking forward to seeing what people come up with.”

On the pitch, things are looking very rosy for Dunn and his side as they target more trophies next season.

The player/boss, who steered Pinchbeck to third place in the PDFL Premier Division and victory in the President Premier Shield last term, is expecting 19 first team players to report to pre-season training. That includes new signings Ollie Maltby, Jack Smith and Chris Shipley and the majority of last season’s first team squad.

They have also revealed their pre-season schedule, which is headlined by a home game against a Boston United XI on Friday, July 22.

Behind the scenes, Andrew Withers is the new chairman having replaced retired club stalwart Pete Roberts.

Gary Coomes will act as vice chairman, with Richard Withers taking on the role of secretary and Andy Atkins taking over as treasurer.

Pinchbeck do still have one position available to join the main committee for the coming season.

That involves taking responsibility for all commercial activities within the club and generating income through sponsorship and fundraising. If interested, you can contact Andrew Withers via email at andrew.withers5@btinternet.com or call him on 07935 464145.
