Clean sweep in dirt for Wilson

Ollie Wilson swept the board in round three of the Dirt Track Riders Association at Greenfields Oval near Alford on Saturday.

Riding a KTM85cc, the 11-year-old rider from Kirton won the Flat Track Youth Intermediate class, coming first in all three qualifying races before coming first in the final.
Toby Johnson was second each time and Marcie Skipp finished third in all the races.
Wilson, who is a pupil at the Banovallum school in Horncastle, has accrued 120 points and has extended his championship lead to 30 points from Johnson, with Skipp third, four points away from Johnson.
After seeing how much his son is enjoying his racing Ollie’s father Ben decided to join him on track.
He said: “The last time I swung my leg over a bike was four years ago, doing a bit of sand racing, and it’s a long time since I was racing in British Supersport.
“But watching Ollie, I have been itching to get back out there, so borrowed a bike from Christian Slater for this weekend to see how I got on.”
Wilson senior entered the Pro Inter class and completed his free practice in sixth place, going on to qualify in 14th.
He finished his heat in third place and the semi-final seventh.
He won the LCQ race and finished the Pro Final in ninth place.
He said: “I was a bit rusty but enjoyed every minute of it. I will perhaps have another ride at the next round.”
The next round is at Mallory Park, Leicestershire, on July 16.
